Cyclic ring
I was drawn to this erosion pattern by the contrasting color and profile of the rock. This was on the edge of a well traveled trail has has since been obliterated by footsteps.
Contrasting blades
A small section of rocks found in Salt Point SP. The blue and white rock contrasting with the brown and black erosion made it stand out.
Punctuated
Runes in the rocks at low tide
Cracked pavement
Iron has stained the rocks and left a trace of color against the granite surface.
Brushstrokes I
A section of rock where nature has created brushstrokes from chemical reactions, letting them bleed across the surface. This section of rock was covered by a small landslide in the years after I first found it - maybe in 10 or 100 or 1000 years it will re-emerge to surprise another explorer.
Erosion swirls in a blue pool
Sea, salt and rain have combined to create a section of rock where a palette of colors and textures have come together
Rock kelp plant
An imperfection in the cooling rock let a kelp like pattern emerge from this rock I found along the shore in Northern California
